From written requirement to approved sample

Custom and OEM Lighting Sourcing in China

ConnexSourcing coordinates buyer requirements with suitable lighting suppliers. Start with a clear reference, specification and approval process before bulk production.

Custom sourcing creates more approval points

Changing dimensions, material, finish, light source, driver, controls, branding or packaging can affect feasibility, price, sample terms and production. A reference photo alone is not a complete specification.

Product reference

Share a drawing, image, existing sample or model reference and state which features must be retained or changed.

Physical specification

Define dimensions, materials, finish, components, mounting method and visible quality expectations.

Electrical configuration

State voltage, light source, driver, controls and other known requirements for the destination and application.

Commercial assumptions

Provide estimated quantity, target timing and any known development, tooling or sample constraints that suppliers must answer.

Labels and packaging

Describe brand labels, manuals, accessories, product protection, carton marks and other packing requirements.

Approval responsibility

Identify who approves drawings, samples, finishes, changes and the production baseline on the buyer’s side.

A traceable custom-lighting workflow

1

Compare supplier feasibility

Send the same drawing or specification revision and record constraints, assumptions, sample terms and open technical questions.

2

Coordinate development

Keep drawings, finish references, component information and supplier responses connected to the correct revision.

3

Approve the sample baseline

Where a physical sample is required, document approved features, accepted differences and unresolved points before bulk production.

4

Control changes

Record who requested and approved each change so the factory is not working from an obsolete photo, drawing or message.

5

Follow production

Keep key product questions, approvals and production checkpoints visible while the supplier prepares the order.

6

Inspect against the approval

Build the quality-inspection scope around the agreed sample, drawing and written requirements.

Choose and review the right supplier for the product

A supplier that fits one standard fixture may not fit a custom material, finish, scale or quantity. Relevant production observations can be reviewed through a lighting factory audit when the order risk justifies it.

Required destination documentation or testing should be defined for the exact product and market. It is not safe to assume that one certificate covers every variant.
